Coldplay Concert

Adrian and I went to the Cold play concert back in November. It was one of the best concerts I had ever seen. Amazing! I didn't bring my camera but luckily we made some friends while we were there. We met some Canadians and some hard core Utes fans. Well, the Canadians ended up spilling their beer which made a puddle right where I was standing. I decided that since they made a mess they were required to send me the photos they took of the concert. I was determined to get my hands of those photos so I kept pursuing till I got what I wanted. Today, I received these three photos and Gavin promised that he would send me the rest in a cd. Can't wait! It may take a couple more months to receive the cd but I'll try to be patient. Afterall, his friend Jared did take some amazing photos. Overall, I loved the concert and was thrilled to go with my best friend, Adrian. Thanks again sweetie!

Girls Night Out

I had a "girls night out" at The Cheesecake Factory last night. It had been a long time since I'd seen my High School buds so I was excited to finally spend time with Stephanie, Christine, and Dia. Steph brought some fun and goofy pictures of our past together. We also had a great time catching up with all of the current events of our lives. Steph was her crazy self as usual and tried to set Christine up with the waiter. Poor Christine was a tad bit sick so she wasn't up to giving the poor guy her digits. Oh well! The food was superb! I might be allergic to something I ate because my month suddenly got bigger and I couldn't quite talk. Serves me right for making fun of my friend, Josh's food allergy (lettuce). I still think it is a bit odd, yet funny. Karma, karma, karma! Well, it sure was fun hanging out with my high school friends. Thanks for an eventful evening girls! We will need to do it more often now that some of us live in Utah. Thanks again! Love ya!

The Reynolds Academy Awards Party

Since we don't live in California and can't attend the popular Roberts Academy Awards party, we decided that we should have our very own Academy Awards evening. We invited a few people from work and church. There were prizes (Scor, popcorn and good n plenty, munch n crunch, people magazine, and an Orlando Bloom pez dispenser-very cool) for Oscar bingo and the Oscar ballot. We also served a special dinner (read the other blog for more details). Overall, the Academy Awards rocked this year. Hugh Jackman did a fabulous job as the host and I was surprised by the different acts he performed. Outstanding performance! I was thrilled that Slumdog Millionaire won for best picture-what an amazing film. If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend it. I was also excited that Kate Winslet won for best actress and Heath Ledger for best supporting actor. Besides the personal and political speeches that Sean Penn and Dustin Lance Black made regarding their movie, Milk I thoroughly enjoyed the Oscars show. Loved it! At the end, some of the 2009 movies were shown that may or may not win an Oscar for next year. Way cool! Can't wait till next year for our 2nd annual Academy Awards party. Hopefully, I'll have a red carpet next time.

Top 10 Reasons why Family Reunions should NOT occur during Adrian's Busy Season

10) Busy season is in winter. Winter snows. Adrian hates snow.
9) Adrian's car hates snow too--especially when roads are steep and slippery and his engine starts to smell like fire.
8) Winter is cold season. Kids get colds. Kids infect everything and everyone. Adrian is not an exception.
8) Everyone else can relax and enjoy each other's company. Adrian can freak out about his workload.
6) Adrian loves to complain, and this provides more ammunition. He doesn't need any more ammunition. Trust us on this.
5) Adrian loves to make Emilee freak out too. She doesn't love to freak out.
4) Adrian gets to make up for some lost time at the weekend during the following week. Yay! He really likes adding to an already long 12 hour day.
3) Adrian gets really sick, courtesy of kids, but this is busy season, so he can't take time off. Adrian loves to be sick at work.
2) Adrian freaks out even more, because he's now getting further and further behind at work. He gets worse and finally gets sent home early (at 5pm--gotta' love getting to leave early)
1) Emilee got more upset because Adrian got sick at a bad time, and she didn't give him the TLC he wanted. This made Adrian sad.

Academy Awards

And the winner goes to...Emilee Reynolds! I only wish. Every year I look forward to the Academy Awards night. This year, Adrian and I invited a few people to enjoy the show with us. We will be serving dinner consisting of a jar of Patak's Coconut Korma mixed with chicken (Slumdog Millionaire), rice, pineapple, salad, Martenelli's and dessert. I have the Oscar ballots all ready for our guests to fill out. Also, we will be playing a game of bingo and there are prizes so it should be a wonderful evening. The show starts at 6:30pm February 22nd. I can't wait to see all of the stars on the red carpet! If you are watching the Academy Awards, I hope you enjoy it as well. I'll post pictures of the fun evening soon. Some day I hope to receive a ticket to the real thing. In the meantime, I'll just be enjoying it in the comfort of my own home.

Roberts Family Reunion

We went to our 2nd Roberts Family Reunion. This time it was held at Ashley's parents home in Bountiful, Utah from February 13th to February 16th. It was a little tricky for us since Adrian is in his busy season but I think it turned out fine. Some of the activities consisted of sledding/snowboarding, gym/tennis, playing the piano while Emma and Rachel sang, Rockband, Wii, playing pool with Adrian, ping pong, watching movies in the awesome theatre room, playing Settlers of Zarahemla, eating Nielsen's custard icecream, family games (three truths and a lie), celebrating Tiffany's birthday and Valentine's Day, making gifts for the children's hospital, and the Draper Temple Open House. Overall, it was so nice to be with my family. It has been a blessing to live so close to my family and have the opportunity to spend time with them. It was quite the adventure. Thank you Adrian for taking the time out of your busy schedule to be with my favorite people. You are the best and I love you!

Valentine's Day

I woke up to a wonderful surprise on Valentine's Day! Adrian bought me the Mamma Mia DVD which he swore that he would never buy, however, he knew that I enjoyed the film. I knew he loved the film but he won't admit it because that may be embarrassing to him. I loved it! It makes me laugh and want to get up and sing all of Abba's songs.

Valentine's Day was a little different this year because we had our 2nd Roberts Family Reunion. We spent out time with my family but tonight we are celebrating V-Day by going out to eat at Cucina Toscana. It will be a new experience since neither of us have gone there before. I'm excited to spend some quality time with Adrian. I love him so much and I'm so glad that we have had the time without kids to get to know one another. It has been a blast!

Eve Black's Baptism

This afternoon, I attended Eve Black's baptism. She is one of my primary kids that I teach each week. There were two other kids in the stake that also got baptized. I remember being baptized on my eighth birthday and a ton of family, friends, and ward members attended. I was so excited because I had been waiting for my turn. Now it was Eve's turn to take that next step in her life. I am so proud of her. She is an amazing example to me and to the other children in my class. Way to go Eve!

Utah Jazz Game

Qqest Payroll gave a few employees tickets to the Utah Jazz game last Thursday. I decided to take my sister Tiffany since she loves free stuff as much as I do. We had a blast! We were super high up but it didn't matter. I kind of felt weird since I was not a huge Jazz fan but I still had fun. I made a mistake of taking Theraflu before the game since I had a sore throat. It made me very tired by the end of the evening. But, Tiff and I had a great time. I even treated her to some yummy icecream. Hopefully, I'll win an evening with Kyle Korver who has become one of my favorite players. It might have something to do with his good looks. Anyway, thanks Qqest for the free game.

Movie Reviews

Recently, I saw two amazing Indian movies. The first was Namastey London which was about a girl named Jasmeet or Jazz who was raised in London, loved to party and go to clubs. Her Indian born father desired that she would get married to an Indian but she had other plans. She was a beautiful girl who wanted to marry her English boyfriend, Charles Brown. Her father decided that a trip to India would be the best thing for his family. However, the father ends up getting her married to Arjun Singh. Upon returning to London, Jazz refused to recognize her marriage as lawful and continues dating her English boyfriend. The movie is a wonderful love story. It does have sub titles but sometimes they spoke English. I loved it because it was different than your normal US films. I would compare it to Mamma Mia since the Indians love to dance (Bollywood) and sing throughout the film. I loved it!

The next film I saw was Slumdog Millionaire which is up for 10 Academy Awards nominations including Best Picture. Before seeing the R-rated film, Adrian read the reviews and let me know that it probably shouldn't be rated R. It seemed harmless according to the reviews . It was an amazing show and we are still puzzled as to the rating. There was two F words which weren't more than a PG-13 film like Rush Hour. There were some torturing but it wasn't even close to being as bad as the Dark Knight or Casino Royale. Overall, it should have been a PG-13 movie. I don't normally see rated R movies but due to the rating, I felt that it wouldn't be bad and I was right.

It was about a Mumbai boy who grew up in the slums. He becomes a contestant on the Indian version show of Who wants to be a millionaire. They feel like he cheats through the whole show and ends up being arrested before the last question. It tells his story of growing up in the slums of Mumbai and it explains how he knew the answers to the questions. It was beautifully done! Adrian says that it reminded him of Pursuit of happiness but it left him happy at the end. If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend it. Well, those are my two reviews. It is time to venture out and see Indian films because so far, they have caught my attention.
