Shooting with the Young Women

On Saturday, I went shooting with the Mia Maids and their dads. The only gun I have touched in my life is a wimpy bb gun. I remember how scared my dad was in letting me handle it. So it was pretty exciting to shoot a 44 magnum pistol, a 700 ultra mag, a 357 rifle, several different shotguns and a couple semi-automatics. My favorite had to be the 44 magnum as well as the shotguns that had a scope so you could see your target. I wasn't too bad at shooting those targets. I even shot a clay pigeon. Linda Stephens' husband taught the girls about the safety and handling of guns. After, we were free to try any of the guns. Some had a kick which I tried. I DID NOT like those guns. It hurt my shoulder. Overall, I think we all had a good time and learned a lot about the different types of guns. Don't I look like a natural in those pictures? Oh yeah!

I actually don't believe that anyone can buy guns. I know it is the people that cause problems but it still irks me that there are people that can go to Gun shows and buy any gun that they desire. It scares me! Adrian strongly disagrees with the 3rd amendment so he was definitely not interested in going with us. He was invited to come but it wasn't happening. What are your beliefs on guns?

St Louis Cardinals

Adrian and I went on a date night with Stefan and Melanie last Friday. We went to the St Louis Cardinals Game. It was a promotional night so we each got a free fleece blanket. That was probably the highlight of the night for me. We had a great time even if we sat on the second to last row. We could see everything. Unfortunately, the Cardinals lost and we left in the seventh inning (Adrian wasn't feeling too great-caught a cold while we were in St Louis). However, we had a great time and we were sort of wearing red. I think pink is close enough. Later that night, Adrian and I headed to Wing Stop which is one of our favorite restaurants. We fell in love with it in Austin, TX. Overall, our experiences in St Louis and Nauvoo were amazing. Thank you again Stefan and Melanie for letting us in your home. We love you!

Nauvoo

Adrian and I were privileged to go to Nauvoo, IL on Wednesday. We went with Stefan, Melanie, Paige, and Anne. It was remarkable! First, we went to the Visitor's Center and took a wagon ride around Nauvoo. I'm so glad we went on the wagon ride so we could see everything. The temple was amazing! I loved everything about Nauvoo. We didn't have a whole lot of time but we were able to see a few of the homes/stores. We saw Wilford Woodruff's home. He is my great, great, great grandfather so it was very special to me. The quilt that is in Wilford Woodruff's home was made by Sara Brown (one of Wilford Woodruff's wives). She gave it to her daughter Phoebe Arabell who gave it to my great grandmother Carrie Moses. Carrie donated the quilt to Barbara Smith who was the General Relief Society President at the time. The quilt was in Sarah Melissa Granger Kimball's home for awhile but was placed in Wilford Woodruff's home later on. I took a picture of the quilt because I knew of the importance that it had in our family. It truly is a special treasure.

We also went to Brigham Young and John Taylor's homes as well as Lucy Mack Smith's (Joseph Smith's mother) home. We stopped by the Bakery, Printing shop, Post Office, and the Cultural Hall. Melanie and Anne were able to go inside the temple so that was a special treat for them. We also ate lunch at Emma's Pantry. Overall, the spirit that was felt was truly remarkable. There are many missionaries that give tours in each home and they share their testimonies at the end. I feel so blessed to live in a land that has plenty and to be part of a legacy. Thank you so much Stefan and Melanie for allowing us to have such a great experience. I will cherish those memories for a long time.

Girls Day Out

On Tuesday, I suggested that we have a Girls Day Out. We went to a nail salon to get a pedicure and manicure. Don't you just love my black toe? That is from preparing for my 1/2 marathon. Melanie and I got a pedicure while Anne treated herself to a manicure. Later, Melanie also got a manicure. They treated us so well and they were super fast. Also, we were privileged to sit in massage chairs. It was perfect! Thanks Melanie and Anne for a spectacular girls day out.
