Memorial Day

Instead of going hiking as planned, we went bowling with the family. It had rained so we didn't want to get our shoes all muddy. So we cruised on down to the BYU bowling center. I ended up with the highest score of 181. I got a double and a turkey. Adrian ended up with 118 which beat Luke and Chris so he was excited. We also ate at Subway and pretty much took over all of the benches. We also got to see Dr Seuss's Horton hears a Who. It was a pretty funny movie. Steve Carell and Jim Carrey are hilarious! Overall, our memorial day was excellent.

Its a Girl!

Today we surprised Mindy with a baby shower. She received a lot of adorable clothes for her new baby due on July 3rd. I knitted her some adorable hats. Hopefully they fit! There was also some chocolate donuts and cookies. I can't wait to use my new step I got for my birthday. Congrats Mindy! We are all excited for you.

Happy 29th Birthday, Emilee

Adrian and I had the day off yesterday to celebrate my 29th birthday. We had a blast! We went to McDonald's for breakfast and then went to the Aquarium. We thought that there would be more fish but apparently they are doing some construction so there will be more to see. Our friends from Austin, TX came over to spend the afternoon with us. We went to Cafe Rio for lunch and saw Narnia-Prince Caspian. It was a little more cheesy than the first Narnia. I don't recommend seeing it in the theater. Later, Adrian and I went to the Cheesecake Factory and stopped by the mall. In the evening, Laura and Rusty, Keith and Keri all came over to eat cake and play dance dance revolution. Way fun! It was a wonderful day and I'm so glad I got to spend quality time with my honey, Adi. Thanks for a wonderful birthday.

I AM NOT A JAZZ FAN! GO LAKERS!

The Implementation Department thought it would be funny to decorate my cubicle with the Utah Jazz colors to celebrate my birthday. Hilarious! Mindy, Laura, and Lourine know that I do not support the Utah Jazz basketball team. What can I say? I'm a California girl and I support the LA Lakers. I don't really like Kobe but who is perfect. He is really good at getting points from fouls.

Also, they bought me a birthday cake, the Twlight book and some peach rings. They know me so well except for the basketball thing. It was definitely a nice surprise. Thanks, you made my day!

Movies

I always love a good film. I saw Jane Austen's Book Club. This film inspired me to read some of Jane Austen's famous books. I'm reading Pride and Prejudice at the moment. My next book is Persuasion. I hope I can understand Jane Austen's writing. Another movie I enjoyed was Cape of Good Hope which was uplifting, inspiring, and a memorable film. If you haven't seen it, rent it or get it from the library. Another movie is The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio starring Julianne Moore and Woody Harrleson. It is an inspirational film based on a true story. I didn't like the husband but Julianne Moore was excellent. She had a positive attitude even when her husband was a jerk.

What movies do you recommend? I am in need of some really good movies to watch while I knit my christmas stockings.

2-2 Dentist Appointment

I went to my second dentist appointment yesterday. I can officially say that I have no cavities. This time wasn't as bad as the first appointment but I did wait an hour before the dentist saw me. I was able to watch a few shows including Oprah, How to loose a guy in ten days, take home chef, and mindless commercials. I was very relaxed till he gave me two shots. Yuck! I was numb till about eight and Adrian didn't even make fun of me. Also, he made me some scrambled eggs for dinner. I wanted Jamba Juice but he didn't know how to get there. Can you tell that I am the main driver in the relationship? Oh well, he will definitely be the main driver in England so I shouldn't complain. I am glad to say that my dentist appointments are done for now. Hopefully I won't get anymore cavities in the near future.

Survivor Micronesia-Fans vs Favorites

I watched the season finale of Survivor Micronesia-Fans vs Favorites last night. I was a little disappointed because I wanted Amanda to win but Parvati won the jury votes. It sure was a good season. There were a lot of blindsides and the women were brutal. I loved it! I love all of the challenges. I have been a fan of survivor for many seasons and wish I could have the chance to be on it. However, it would be one difficult adventure. I think I'll just watch the show as long as Adrian doesn't mind. He has not been a fan of survivor because he thinks I love the show more than him. Funny Adrian! He does watch a little with me and really gets into it but then he remembers that he hates the show and leaves. It is pretty funny. Anyway, the next survivor show takes place in Gabon Africa so it will be fun to see what Jeff Probst has in store. I can't wait!

Remembering the good o'le days!

In high school I owned a Ford Festiva. I called it my Feisty Festiva because it always gave me trouble. I paid my parents $1000 to have the pleasure of driving it during my teenage years. The money was put towards my college education so I pretty much got the deal of the century. It truly was the perfect vehicle to drive my friends around. I almost got stuck down at the beach when my friends and I decided to ditch. Sorry mom!

I had many experiences with this car. I got in my first wreck, I learned how to use a stick shift and I was the last one in the Roberts family to drive it. I miss my "box on wheels." It had all of the perfect gizmos. I never knew how fast I was going and I didn't know how much gas I had so I had to store a gas tank in my mini trunk, just in case. I don't know about you but I should of won the "best vehicle" in our high school's yearbook. I don't remember who won but their car wasn't as good as mine. Anyone in high school should own a Ford Festiva. Thanks Feisty Festiva for giving me the best years of my life!

Wish List

The Passap E 6000 is on my wish list. It is a knitting machine. It looks a little complicated but I am willing to learn. You can draw your own design on a pattern sheet and the Passap E 6000 reads it and knits the design just as you have drawn it. Pretty cool, eh? I am in the process of creating new patterns for my christmas stockings and think this machine would be a good purchase. I really enjoy knitting but it takes me about a week to make a christmas stocking. If anyone knows anything about this machine, let me know. Someday I'll have one in my own home but for now, it will be in my dreams.

Happy 30th Birthday Adrian

Happy 30th Birthday, Adrian! We celebrated a day early because Adrian had to leave early Monday morning. I woke up at 6am to decorate our kitchen table. Then I went back to bed and waited till Adrian woke me up. After he woke me up I went downstairs to grab a couple presents. He opened his cards, gift from his mother and two gifts from me. I gave him an Athlete cd, socks, and the Juno dvd. He gave me a look that said, "Um, what else?" So I simply said, "Okay, lets go downstairs." I had another gift for him on the table. He opened it and it was Dance, dance revolution. I think he was a little confused because he didn't see any other gifts on the table. So I pulled the XBox 360 from under the table and said, "Happy Birthday." I think he was pretty excited. He has been a little sick so he didn't show any emotion. I had planned to get him the XBox 360 since January so I was glad the day finally arrived. I hope you have a wonderful birthday. I love you Adrian! Thanks for being my English Mexican. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

What a Woman Wants Show

Teresa and I went to the What a Woman Wants show on Saturday. We had a blast trying to dodge all of the sales people. They sure were pushy! We got our hair done and the Israel sales people kept asking us, "Which straightner are you buying? It is only $200." Are you kidding? I felt so uncomfortable the whole time. We also got our nails done and won a free 30 minute massage. We did get a five minute massage and I felt relaxed afterwards. Overall the show was worth the $2.50. We thought there would be more makeovers and maybe a fashion show or two. It was a bunch of different vendors that either wanted your money or wanted you to host a show in your home. I did have a great time. Thanks for going with me Teresa!

Auto Survival Tips

Yesterday, I left my car lights on. This isn't the first time but I have learned a couple auto survival tips. First, have a set of jumper cables in your trunk. Second, have your cell phone in your purse or pocket in case you need to call someone. Third, open up your hood so that a good samaratin can help. You are letting them do service for you. They will receive a ton of blessings. Also, if a good samaratan helps, forget the second step.

I drive a 1995 Honda Civic to work and the car doesn't let me know if I have my lights on. Luckily I had jumper cables so I was able to flag down a good samaratan by opening up my hood. It worked! I had two people ask me if I needed help. It took less than five minutes to get my car up and running. I felt prepared. So if you don't have jumper cables, I suggest you buy some.

Laffy Taffy

Our receptionist, Stephanie, has a candy jar filled with Laffy Taffy and all sorts of fun candy. Each piece of Laffy Taffy candy has two jokes. Today, I grabbed a banana Laffy Taffy and read the jokes. I couldn't stop laughing! It was hilarious. Most of the jokes are very clever but some are reallly lame. Today the jokes are... Why did the skeleton go to the movies by himself? And... What does a bee sit on?

Wait for it.....

Answers:
He had no body to go with him.

His Bee-Hind (Behind)

Thanks Wonka for making me laugh!

Snow, Snow, and more Snow

It is May 1st and it is snowing. I really don't understand this state. I'm a California girl so I'm used to warm weather. I'm also not used to wearing a coat in May which also happens to be our bithday month. It just better be warm on my birthday because I have the whole day off from work and I want to be outside. It is May 19th if you would like to shower me with gifts. Adrian's birthday is May 5th-Cinco de Mayo. The funny thing about Adrian's birthday is the fact that he doesn't even like mexican food. However, I still like to make it known that his bithday is on Cinco de Mayo. More to come on his birthday...

Anyway, back to the main reason for writing this blog...I think the only positive thing about snow is that you get to go snowboarding. I didn't go snowboarding this year which is kind of embarrassing since we've had enough snow to build a fort, but that is because we have a mortgage. I also didn't go because I really don't know a lot of people that go snowboarding. Adrian has only skied once and I really don't think skiing on "carpet" counts. That is the way he describes it to me. I really would like to go snowboarding with him just so he can see my snowboarding skills. Maybe someday we will go together. For now, I want to be able to answer the standard daily question "How's the weather" by saying, "It is beautiful outside. It is a perfect 75 degrees. It is not snowing." Why do so many people ask about the weather? I guess it is such an easy question that anyone with a tiny bit of intelligence can answer. Well, hopefully today was the last day of snow. It is spring time and I am ready to take long walks with my husband.
